Artist's Story

I believe an artist’s style and approach to their work come from the artist’s history. Spending time in nature is part of my history and how I begin each working day as a painter.

To portray a fleeting moment in nature by finding a unique view of natural elements keeps me fascinated. The layers in a body of water, frost on a tree or the tones in water from the swish of a koi fin.

My painting subjects represent pattern, movement, texture, color and graphic elements. The paint is applied in a thick manner and from an angle the paint creates almost relief texture on the surface. Although my paintings are textural and abstract at close range they materialize as the realistic subject when the viewer steps back.

I like to think I am giving the viewer a chance to enjoy two painting styles in one. Abstract and Impressionist Realism.
